That makes absolutely NO business sense for a mainstream car manufacturer. They HAVE to have the compact dart and Midsize Avenger sedans as volume sellers. As for a totally different platform just for the Challenger, maybe if you want one that starts at 60k. It is not as if the Camaro is not a bloated beast riding on a sedan (G8/Caprice/etc) platform, BECAUSE IT IS! The basics of the Mustang are too believe it or not, the platform from the Lincold LS/Jag S Type, just modified and sans the IRS. Making an entire platform for scratch is just not possible AND it would take years to develop. I think it will happen as they could share it between Chrysler, Dodge, Alfa, etc now, but it will take time. A Charger coupe makes absolutely no sense. WHy would they need 2 low volume large coupes???? Kind of how we will not see another CHevelle, or Torino, the market no longer supports coupes the way it used to.
