i remember seeing something a while back saying that nitromethane wont burn if you put a flame to it but its more like diesel where it ignites from the compression. the spark plugs are there just to make it hot and more readily combustible. but that was a while ago and my memory sucks, i could be wrong.

the spark plugs are used for only about the first half of the track after that, the cylinder temps pretty much melt the plugs and the car will continue to burn by dieseling the rest of the way down the track
