I understand your point and the potential financial pain. But we cannot continue killing people because these tires are cheaper.

I believe the additional cost needs to be added as normal business expense and the cost of service adjusted accordingly.

As for new tires - when new tires fail they do not leave a 3-6 foot chunk of death on the highway.

Maybe if we mandated regular inspections on retread tires at wiegh stations and mandated a very heavy fine on retread separation at the next inspection station the problem would be solved?
