I dunno...like I said, I own two firearms, I consider myself an advocate for gun ownership, but responsible gun ownership. A loaded firearm in the house is, to me, irresponsible and is statistically far more likely to be used against an occupant of the household than against an intruder. The statistical probability of using your firearm against someone who means you or a loved one harm is so miniscule it might as well be fantasy.
I keep my firearms locked in a cabinet, with trigger locks on them and ammunition stored in a separate room. But then we have storage laws in Canada that I have to comply with and two of the three precautions above are mandatory storage regulations for firearms here.
But I guess if you feel that the likelihood of having to use a firearm in self defence is a very real one, than I guess I can sorta understand, but I honestly have never had that mindset...I think about having to use my firearms during a zombie apocalypse far more often than I do against another person.
