Which also makes the Volt really seem like an overly complex hybrid. Why couldn't they just do a simple diesel-electric inspired thing and go with a true onboard recharging system like a single or twin cylinder ICE coupled to a generator?
Weight? Safety?
Why haven't ANY companies tried this?
