This tech is already out and while it can have up to a 250 gig capacity, the sticks runs up to $800 and hard drives are in the thousands depending on what capacity you get. A stick with the same capacity as a blue-ray disk costs $200. From a cost stand point solid state hard drives and memory sticks is not economical at all for a gaming system (unless you feel like spending well over a grand on a new gaming system and $150-$200 for a game) and with higher capacity Blue-ray disks (as much as 400 gigs) in the works, become even less so. Sorry but this "old tech" has the "new tech" beat until the costs come
WAY down which probably won't happen till it's time for the PS4 to go into production and most definitely will not happen in time for the next Xbox.
While I do agree that solid state is the future, it's not the immediate future.
