This could siimply be for the China market where anything with a Buick badge is considered with high regard.

Did you know the average age of a Buick buyer in China is 32 years old? It's still in the 60's here in the U.S.. Hopefully on it's way down though with the Regal coming on board.

What do you think of the 5 door hatch?
It could be for the Chinese market...but it does have the US-spec front fascia.
