Also find a mechanic with a dealers license, or just someone with a dealers license for that matter, that goes to dealer only auctions such as manheim. A lot of the cars at dealer only auctions are in good condition and sell for ten grand less than the cars found on dealers' lots. Why? Because they buy them there, pay the fees, need to have them transported, usually need them cleaned and then mark the prices up. Some dealers can take you along claim that you are the driver and have you drive the cars to their lots. After they get the paperwork sorted, you "buy" the car from them and then take it home.
