Nope. I don't view this as a safety issue...because the failsafe is intended to compensate for another components deficiencies...that's counter-productive in my mind. Plus, "there's more than one way to skin a cat" as they say, there's no doubt some other system implemented in GM vehicles to account for electronic throttle issues.
And for the record, GM does go above and beyond the imposed safety standards in their vehicles. This isn't the only measure of that.
