Definately not making excuses for them, what they did was inexcusable however they experience and deal with the worst that society has to offer, some handle it better than others.

Good friend of mine is an officer here in CA and was promoted to SGT in the juvenile sex crimes division he lasted about 5 years before he couldn't take it anymore and it changed who he is.

Good to hear from you Hylton, we miss ya!
How much an officer makes is irrelevant, these individuals made some really bad decisions that cost two peolpe their lives and countless others (including themselves and their own families) a lifetimes worth of grief including probably being being convicted of a major crime. There is nothing the victims were guilty of except being in the wrong place at the wrong time period.

Emergency responders can say they love there job all they want and the friend of mine I mention above 'loves his job' too but no matter what they say dealing with what they see and experience on a day to day basis is something most of us will never in our lifetime go through once. To hold them to a higher standard means they should also be be afforded a higher level of respect when they put their lives on the line everday for our protection but most times all they get is indignation for being a cop. How many of us actually have to wear a bullet proof vest when they go to work every day? It is there choice but do you have the balls to do it? I don't, couldn't handle it and I don't mind admitting that. Please don't sterotype because of the actions of a isolted incident. This a tragedy all the way around.
