This, in reference to our reliance on China:

I hope though that automakers at least diversify production of parts as I believe they should propulsion methods and energy generation.

Bringing production of parts/vehicles back here though is tricky given the cost of labor from combative unions that are poor "partners" and the global competition playing by different rules. Outside of tariffs, we have no way to compete. The 400k UAW members may be happy (and especially their leadership), but nobody else is with an avg transaction price of a new car at 50k. A new car is now a luxury purchase.
