Battery Advice
Went outside this weekend to a completely dead battery in my 2018 2SS Camaro. It was still the original factory battery so I can't complain about the longevity, 5 years for a battery in Arizona's heat is pretty good. I removed the old one. Just wondering if anyone has any advice before I purchase and install a new one? Thanks

You'll probably get a lot of opinions and to each their own, but I replaced mine last year. I just get another OEM AC Delco battery. 2016 and lasted until 2022. It was still fine when I replaced it as well. I just did because of age, not because I needed too. No reason to change what works. Just me $.02

Keep it on a float charger if it's going to sit for extended periods of time without driving.

I recently replaced the battery in my 2018 as well, bought a direct ACDelco replacement (88864541) with a CCA rating slightly higher than OEM, no issues so far, it starts the car just fine and charges as expected. Indeed it's a great idea to hook it up to a trickle charger when you don't drive the car for 2-3 weeks or longer, I use this quality Optimate charger: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UANXCE/
One other thing that comes to mind, I almost forgot to reconnect the vent tube to the new unit, good thing I double-checked the battery bay after installation. Some people take this opportunity to install a lightweight lithium or lithium iron battery. I for one didn't want to make the rear even lighter, if I will shed weight, it will be from the front (or the driver seat, har-har).

Agreed. Everyone has there brand unless they are like me. Three months ago when I needed a new battery I just went to the nearest Auto Zone and bought what they had on the rack that was H6-AGM rated. It happened to be a Duralast Platinum. I would have been fine with another OEM as well but the dealership is 20 miles further than Auto Zone for me.
I wouldn't sweat it too much. Find a AGM battery at a decent price and buy it.

Mine is a 17' with over 61k miles. Still cranking but I am thinking maybe I better replace it in the next week or so. Will probably go back to the dealer. Must be good batteries as its going on 6 years. |

Hmmm, great question on the cost of the battery... I think it was just over $200. I don't remember anymore exactly. I can look at the receipt tonight, I should still have the receipt in my file. No I installed it. I take the battery out of my car every winter to store the car in my storage unit, so I'm used to taking the battery out. I keep the battery in my basement on a trickle charger. No electric in my storage unit.

Just replaced my 2018 battery, probably prematurely. Delco AGM, vent, good price and fast delivery. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008FWCLHU...roduct_details

Negative: trivial
Positive: moderate (need to peel back trunk liner, which means pulling and likely breaking Christmas tree clips)

It may work, I haven't tried... there is very little working room for big hands behind the liner if you mean you don't want to pull it. You have no choice when the battery comes out, but if you just want to hook something to both terminals (permanent trickle charger cable connection for example), it might work, but again, I haven't even tried.

When I changed mine I pulled the liner all the way back out of the way. Luckily I did not break any clips. I can't imagine changing the battery without doing that. As I remember I needed an 8mm socket for the battery terminals and a 10 mm socket for the two hold down bolts. I got the whole job done in under 30 minutes.
