My Camaro order being showed on dealer website
So my Camaro order is in transit currently, and I took a look at my dealership's website for shits and giggles, and my car was on the website.
This is concerning to me, I've heard of dealers selling cars under people, but when I went in they assured me that this would not happen. On the cars listing there is A LOT of people viewing it, and it makes me pretty nervous I'm not going to lie. Is it normal for dealers to show people's orders on the website or are they looking for someone else to outbid me?

This is normal. Once a car is in transit, it automatically shows up on the dealers website. Same thing happened with mine

Most sold vehicles only show on my Dealers website for one day. They delete sold orders from the website every morning.

Funny thing, I found the car I purchased on the Chevy website as it was in transit. Riverside Blue, 2023 2SS 1LE 6MT. There were 2 exact cars, both going to same dealership. I thought it was just like a mistake or a bug or something. I managed to snag it with a $1,000 deposit. It turns out they just took someone's order for the exact car and got two of the exact same spec/color everything. I do think it is a little weird that they show orders of cars that have been custom ordered by a customer. Another thing, my car got to the dealership before the one that was custom ordered as the one that the other person had a vin attached to it already.

I'm sure people back out all the time. The car is not sold until a sales contract is signed and buyer takes possession. It makes sense for it to automatically show up in their inventory, and then they follow the process to take it down.

Same happened to my car, as it shows up on their website. I need to ask them the pull the car off the website. Having it there probably attracts more people to the dealership. When they inquire and are disappointed it is sold, the dealership will try to sell them some thing else. Kind of bait and switch sort of. I have been on the receiving end all to many times.

Its very common for ordered vehicles to show up in dealer inventory as they are technically not sold.
But my dealer removed the vehicle from their dealer listing as soon as i placed a deposit and it just completed production few weeks back. |

All ordered cars show up on the ordering dealer's website as part of an automated process, mine did as well. This alone doesn't mean the dealer will sell your car to anyone else, but I will say that I got a little shaken up myself, too, back in 2018, called the dealer for confirmation and was told that the car was mine and no other customer would touch it.

It seems like there've been a lot of threads reccently where people have called dealers about "In-transit" Camaros they see on a dealer's website, but are quickly told "It's sold." If you're dealing with an ethical dealer, I don't think you have much to be concerned about. For most of 2022, my opinion may have been different...

Funnily enough, mine didn't show up on the dealer website. Of course, my salesman sent me a text on a Friday night saying it looked like it was being loaded on a truck that day and may be arriving the following week. Car showed up on Monday, and I picked it up the same day, so maybe it just never had a chance to even go into inventory for more than the one day it was on the lot and thus never appeared on their website?
