Carnage at COTA in the Rain! Baller Mini Recovery + GT4 Crash

I did a session in the rain. To preface this, I was not trying to go fast at all. I just wanted to be able to say I went on CotA in the rain.

Mini spin: 8:20
GT4 crash: 13:15

He spun, hit the wall, and wound up back on track. He broke off some body panels at least. He had to get towed off the track.

Fast forward to 13:58 and you will see him back on the track after he spun out. I hope he is okay.

Nope. They run rain or shine. Kinda sucks because you have to buy months in advance to guarantee a spot and there are no refunds.

yeh I hate the rain or shine policy but its how i'd run the business too.

this past spring there was an event where they were predicting rain for two weeks so I decided not to prep the car during the last few days leading up to the event. morning of the event the weather went from 90% precipitation to like 15% and an attendee at a later event told me it never rained. i skipped the event because running in rain just isn't fun to me.

I did get a pretty cool picture of my car out of it, though. So, not all was lost.

Sweet pic. Looks like a torrential downpour when it was taken!

You can learn a great deal from an HPDE in the rain...especially new drivers with little car control skills. It's not nearly as dangerous as one might think, so long as the drivers realize what they're doing...and SLOW DOWN.

Certainly a comfort-level thing, though. Glad you "survived", and that is an awesome photo!
