First oil change

Thought I'd share a good dealership interaction for a change. I took my Z to Paul Conte Chevrolet in Freeport LI. Upon arriving, EVERYONE in the service area came over to gawk at the car. I reminded my service writer that this was no ordinary Camaro, and I needed someone good to work on my car. One of the mechanics came walking ,over and told the service writer,"make sure I get this one!" I got a chance to talk to him and he invited me into the shop to watch him set up the lift, and drain the 10 quarts of oil. He is a 3rd gen guy, and actually knows a friend of mine with a turboed 3rd gen. Seems like we only hear about the horror stories. At dealerships, I thought I would share a good one. Thank you Casper! Only downside was the service manager who declined to warranty my fuel rail cover that most of the paint has come off of. He told me to take it back to the original selling dealer. Wrong answer.

Man i wouldnt sweat over the what i call heat covers. I took mine off and put them up for later on not long after i got mine when i saw how hot it actually gets under the hood of these cars. I jist felt like the heat from the exhaust manifold rises up under the covers and just heats up the heads even more so. But that just my way of seening it. Good luck and stay safe

Same here. Once I saw how much heat is generated under the hood I removed the rain gutter/ drip tray from the heat extractor in the hood as well the plastic valve covers and put them away for safe keeping. Theres no reason to keep those 2 items in place and trap the heat under the hood IMO

This is spot on. I boxed my FRC's up and put GM Performance Parts valve covers on the car. Looks way better and allows the heat to actually escape. Before hand i tested the theory at the track. On the same day, between passes the car would cool off quicker without them at a 87* ambient temp. I verified off my IAT sensor.

I do wish more dealers put forth the little extra effort you received for your oil change though!

Hi all,

I just did the same thing as well. After a very hot experience in the 122 degree, stop and go traffic, SoCal desert heat, causing the shutting off the A/C, those items are now in storage!
