Getting a new key made

Has anyone had a key made for our cars? I was lucky enough to get the key number from the selling dealer.

Thanks, so it's not chipped or anything. Probably should have asked about the fob too! My car only came with one fob and key.

To piggyback on this thread... can I get a switchblade key made? My knee is nowhere near the ignition and for non track driving I wouldn't mind having the switchblade or am I SOL?

You can covert it back to a switchblade very easily. Lots of threads on the site about it.

I gently put the key portion in a vice, twisted the black handle a few times with pliers. It quickly released from the key. Place blade back in fob and insert roll pin.

All done.

How to remake the switchblade: The key from Chevy has the end of the switchblade embedded n plastic. Take a torch, make he plastic taffy, pull it off.Open the switchblade end, stick the key end in it, then use line .010 or 3/16" long piece of piano wire and channel locks to jam the wire down into the hole where the piano wire acts as a roll pin/lock. Takes 5-10 minutes max per key..easy.

Here's the link to my thread. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ht=switchblade

I owned a 69 CAMARO in 69 and it also was barnish brown & champane gold. I never saw the same color combination here in San Diego. What I understood it was a special order color. My CAMARO was build at the Los Angeles plant. Can you post a picture of your 69.

Thanks

Went to the local Chevy dealer today with my key code. Parts guy gets two keys and a fob. He said he would cut one for the recall, and an extra one that I wanted. He showed me where the roll pin. Should be knocked out to remove the switchblade, and cut that one too!!
