Service Tire Monitor System

Driving to work yesterday the "Service Tire Monitor System" message came on along with the low tire pressure icon. I pulled over and all 4 tires were fine, I manually checked the tire pressure with a gauge. I got back in the car and scrolled to the screen showing the PSI on each tire. The driver's rear tire showed "--" the rest of them had 32-34 pressure. I drove for about 5 minutes and the message went away and all 4 showed pressure. The low pressure icon did not go away. I restarted the car and the low pressure icon was gone.

Both came on while driving home, but neither went away this time.

I had new tires put on the rear rims a few weeks ago, but have driven a couple hundred miles since.

I read about relearning the TPMS sensors, but I don't think that is the problem. Do you think I have 1 bad sensor? If so, what's the best route to replace?

As usual, any help is appreciated.

I had a similar issue and it was caused by the Schoche radio kit. I reverted back to the stock unit and my electrical issues went away.

Weird.

I guess my problem isn't that common with over 80 views and no one has run across it.

32 is low for your hot pressure.

Should be 36 cold. If it's 32 when hot, the cold pressure could be triggering the warning.

If your cold pressure is correctly set at 36 and you continue to have problems, then suspect the TPMS. But not before.

PS. Hot pressure is typically 38 to 42, depending on weather.

I put 36 in each tire today. The idiot light and the notification both went off. Drove around and it stayed off. Tire pressure went up to 40 hot. I'll keep my eyes on it.

Thanks.

I believe the low warning also comes on if there is a 6-7 lb. difference between one tire and the rest.

Driving to work this morning on I-45 at the same place as the original incident, it happened again. The "Service Tire Monitor System" message came on along with the low tire pressure icon. But this time there was no display or number for the driver's side front tire, not the rear. I pulled over and checked with my gauge and it read 36. I got back in the car and the display for all 4 tires (the missing one was back) read 38. I turned the car off and restarted and the low pressure idiot light was gone. I'm stumped.

I have not done a relearn yet. I guess that's the next step.

Scroll through your DIC,when it comes to the screen with 4 tires and says tire pressure select reset and press the end of your your turn signal lever.

The horn will honk twice and now its doing the relearn it takes about 1.5 minutes.

I hope this helps.
