The only way I see it happening is if an aftermarket company does it.

I gotta say... I love Ttops. But that just doesnt look right. Maybe a Targa would be better?

From the factory? Not happening. Safety standards, the desire of a stiff chassis, and the goal of keeping the cars reasonably light prevent it.
Want T-tops? Get a sawzall. Might need a few extra blades though, I've heard that the structural beam that runs over the roof in modern cars has made fire departments upgrade their jaws-of-life to cut through it. That should tell you just how important that bit of metal above the door is to the overall integrity of the car. If you really want a hole in the roof, whats wrong with a sunroof?

total curiosity, what makes T-tops different from a targa top when it comes to rigidity?

I know of a company in Florida who converts Camaros to Camaros with T-tops AND will convert a Camaro into a modern take on a Firebird/Trans-Am. They do a fantastic and thorough job as they transformed our Challenger into a convertible.

Personally...I lived through the t-tops craze in the 70's and 80's. They may look really cool, but then comes the inevitable leak, loose top which flies off, stolen tops, getting caught on the interstate in the downpour...etc.

The point is that the government recognizes a targa as a convertible and a t-top as a coupe. The structural requirements are different and it would require added structure in a t-top to even have a chance to pass. So a plastic panel with a frame light enough to easily latch and remove would be that much harder to pass roof strength. Now if you want a bolt in roof like the C6 Z06 that you need a hoist to remove them you might get your t-tops.

YES please...I dont want to see the insurance tab on that, however. There was massive insurance fraud back in the day with the T-tops.
