Mickey Thompson 305/35/R20's installed, first impression

I have been following these tires on another thread and decided that I would start this one to report my 1st impressions of this tire. They came By Fedex about 4 days late, so it didn't start off real good for me.

Anyways as soon as they came in, I went to my local tire shop and had them installed. I had the Tire Tech only put 24 lbs. of air in them at the time. As soon as I pulled out of the tire shop, I gave it a little gas to merge into traffic (I mean this was real easy). The tires spun, I let off and gave it some gas again and they spun again. Being new tires, They still have the new crap on them, so I was a little worried, but kept that bit of info in the back of my mind. The temp was about 45 degrees, so its really kinda cool to be out testing these tires, but I had just tested the stock F1's, so I was going to compare apples to apples. I got on the highway, but it was getting close to rush hour and there was traffic all around, so I turned around and headed back for the Turnpike Spur. I did a few roll ons from 65 and 70 MPH...I did notice some spin, but it was controllable. I did it 2 more times and the tires got better each time. Since adding the upper pulley (to the mods listed below) I have not been able to hit the gas and stay in it because the car just goes sideways and I have to let out or crash. The M/T Street Comps did not let the car get crazy like the GY F1's. Each time I tried it out at highways speeds it got better. About the 4th hit, the car just took off like a rocket with very little to no spin at all. I then tried from a Dig (stop). The tires spun (PTM5 / A6 car). It chopped the power like I expected, but again, the spin was manageable. 40 MPH roll on, the car again spun the tires enough to chop power, but it got right back into it. Keep in mind, this is on Asphalt on a 45 degree day. I have not been able to put my foot in it for a while, the car actually scared me to the point where I never kicked it in WOT. If I had to put a number on it, I would say that they are 65-75% better then Stock. I bought these for daily driver tires that would get more miles then the stock F1's and better traction. The GY F1's are rated @ 200 for tread wear, where the M/T Street Comps are rated @ 300. They have a Y rating that is 186 MPH (There is a discrepancy on the speed of the rating shown. M/T Site says 168 for Y rated, but every other chart I look at says Y rated is 186, so maybe its a typo. I am sure I'll have someone mention it here. I could be wrong). I will use my Nitto 05R's for the 1/4 mile stuff. I almost pulled the trigger on the Michelin Pilot Super Sports, but the M/T's were on sale for 109.00 each, so I had to try them to see if they would work. I feel comfortable with these tires now and I'm am glad I bought them.

Mine were super slick for a bit too. Much better grip after putting a few miles on them.

Someone needs to tell M/T to make the 285/35/20's so we can have an OEM matched set. Hello M/T

I was impressed you could get the ET Street for such a low price.

But, this thread is about the Street Comp Tire...

(Imagine my confusion when people started talking about running them on the front also! )

The tires need about 100 miles to break in. a couple of heat cycles.
