WHEN DRIVING MY C7 WITH NPP EXHAUST IN EITHER SPORT OR TRACK MODE, THE LOUD EXHAUST CUTS OFF IF I JUST CRUISE. IS THAT BECAUSE IT IS BELOW 3500 RPMS? I THOUGHT THE EXHAUST VALVES STAYED OPEN ALL THE TIME IN SPORT AND TRACK MODE.

Some good info in that thread.

I have mine set to off in settings, but I think it's still closing at low RPMs even in track/sport.

OK, I AM STILL CONFUSED AND DISSATISFIED. IF THE NPP EXHAUST CAN NOT STAY OPEN ALL THE TIME UNDER ANY CIRCUSTANCE WHICH IS WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CHOICE FOR, IS THERE ANY AFTER MARKET KITS FOR THE C7. IF SO, CAN THEY HARM ANYTHING OR WOULD THEY VOID THE WARRANTY ?

You can go to settings on main screen and set it to always be open

This is all you have to do:

I went to settings, changed the default, and have them open all the time. Beautiful sound, especially with rev matching adding even more vocals.

PLEASE FORGIVE MY IGNORANCE GUYS, I GUESS I AM NOT EXPLAINING MYSELF CORRECTLY. WHEN IN SPORT OR TRACK MODE, WHILE PULLING OUT AT A STEADY PACE, AS THE AUTO TRANS SHIFTS INTO POSSIBLY THIRD OR FOURTH GEAR THE TONE DIES OFF UNTIL I ACCELLERATE AGGRESSIVELY. THE WAY I SEE IT, NONE OF THE SETTINGS WHETHER SPORT /TRACK SELECTED OR "LOCKED IN" CHANGES THE PERFORMANCE. IS THE TONE ACTUALLY SOUNDING, BUT NOT LOUD ENOUGH TO HEAR FROM INSIDE? I NEVER SAID I WAS SMART, JUST KNOW HOW TO PICK AN AWSOME CAR.

Hi John,
You are absolutely correct in your description, and I was/am very disappointed in my NPP in that regards. I expected touring to be lexus quiet and sport or track mode to be screaming loud ALL THE TIME. That is NOT the case. However, what others on the corvette forum (the other forum) has noticed is the "tip in" phenomena. If you are at 1700 rpm or above, the exhaust will open up. Anything under 1700rpm, the exhaust close up again.
Some people, including me have pulled out fuse #41 in the engine bay, and I have found that it is slightly louder because the exhaust supposedly remain open all the time. However, I still feel it is not loud enough. I have installed cold air intake (AFE) through a group buy for $400 and installed it. I noticed besides increase of some power, the exhaust is louder, but not much louder.
Sorry, I know I'm not being very helpful. I just want to say that this is normal in your car, and many of us, not just you are disappointed in the sound.

Again, I changed the settings so the NPP is always on in all modes. I have a 7 speed and so I don't know if that is different from auto. With my 7 speed with NPP open, even in E, W, and T, it is on full time and sounds the same as in S & T. With rev matching on, the sound is even more pronounced.

To john and Vince's point, it seems that the valves are closing at low RPMs no matter the drive mode or settings selected. I have noticed this almost every time i drive, for example at low RPMs it's like vroom and once it hits ~2000 RPMs it jumps to VROOOOOM!!!!!!! it's not gradual, just all the sudden. which would lead one to believe some opening and closings going on.

I have a 7 speed and have it set to off in settings so it's on loud for all as well.

GUYS, I AM WONDERING IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN THE SHIFT VS AUTOMATIC TRANS. I PLAN ON TRYING DRIVING MY AUTOMATIC IN
MANUAL MODE USING THE PADDLES AND SEE IF THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

What I can tell you is that I went to “Settings” and changed the default to where NPP is open all the time in all 5 modes. I have a 7 speed and I keep the Rev Matching on. I normally run in Touring Mode, and there is no difference in sound from Sport or Track Mode.
I shift high into the gears and so there is no difference in sound. I have yet to shift directly from 1 to 4. When I down shift, I do so high into the speed range for the gears, and with Rev Matching on, my C7 makes a lot of sound.
So, no, I do not notice a difference in sound.

Sorry for using all upper case letters in my discussions. I was not aware that it could be offensive. I only did so because I am not the greatest typist. Please excuse any typos in the future. Thanks.

To answer your question, being you stated you have a automatic. The automatic and manual transmission do not operate the same in relation to the V4 and V8 mode. The manual changes to V4 mode in Eco, the automatic will go to V4 in all driver modes, unless, you are in the paddle shift (manual) mode then the baffles stay open and you will not go to V4 mode.
