Stealer Service Issue

I recently got a CEL with P0171 and P0174 (left/right bank lean) and took it to my dealer for repair. I've got a CAI and it has run without issue for the past 18 months. I've also got a ported throttle body. I get a call from them saying they cannot proceed with any troubleshooting without having the stock intake back on. All their GM guidance lists this as the first step in resolving the issue. I asked them to check the MAF sensor and they said it is good. Does this sound right or should I take it elsewhere?

I know you can get those codes if you have vacuum or intake leaks. I think you can rule out bad o2 sensors and cats since it's both banks. a bad MAF is another possibility. Did you try cleaning the MAF?

is your tune stock or custom? is it possible that you're flow has improved to the point that the stock tune cannot add enough fuel? that is basically what the codes are saying... the proper air/fuel mix is beyond the expected range and car is running too lean.

another idea... did you initially recalibrate the throttle body (so it knows the idle voltage)? I know you have to do this when replacing the throttle body. I replaced a stock throttle body and had issues until I recalibrated.

Stock tune. I'll clean the MAF and see what happens. Just wondering why the dealer is unable to proceed without the stock airbox.

Does not sound wrong. If you want it to be covered under warranty I'd expect them to want the car as stock as possible. Just put the stock intake back on as it takes all of 10 minutes.

I would guess the ported throttle body is the culprit. I've been under the impression that you need a tune after this mod.

That's a big part of it, I think maddoggyusa nailed it.

A tune is 100% not needed after a TB.

With no real significant mechanical upgrades like a cam, heads, etc there is no need for a tune as nyrfan said. The real problem is you have a service department that is no better than following a check list that starts with checking the air intake for a blockage or dirty filter, etc so do yourself a favor and RUN to a different dealer....

That's what I suspected. Any technician worth their weight should be able to apply their experience and some common sense to fix a problem. On a side note, when I picked my car up, they scratched the fender near the hood. Right about belt buckle height. I also asked to get my PDIM software updated and they said "No problem." I plugged my phone into the USB port when I got home and the radio won't respond at all.
