Factory subwoofer

Did anyone go with the addition of the subwoofer when they bought their car? If so, how does it hit?

Yeah, I bought the GM subs. This is my first car with subs so I don't know much. However, I like them. Others say with the cost you can go out and buy better ones, but I dunno.

The GM subs I hear are good, but overpriced considering what you can get for the same money. ******** is a good place to start looking, and they are sponsers here on Camaro5. Hope this helps.

I don't know how good they are, but they are definitely overpriced. It's convienent just getting your car with subs in it, but for the price you pay you could get a lot better or more audio equipment.

I bought a 10" Kicker powered sub from Best Buy for $250 and installed it myself and it sounds great! Much cheaper than the $1000 option from GM.

There's a factory sub? where's it located? I think the car has pretty good bass but I'm not impressed with the tone variance in the bass.

its a dealer add-on. its a mtx branded box with 2 10's and built in amp. I was going to get one originally, but after doing some research went with sub thump and couldn't be happier. with the factory one, you will lose your pass through for the rear seats.

Ah, I thought it was a factory sub deal or something.

Na I don't need 2 MTX 10s or any of that aftermarket stuff.. I got over the audiophile craze when I was in my early 20s.

I did however find the non-premium audio systems in new cars to be extremely lacking however.

anyone got a picture of this thing? Sounds interesting.

I've read other people saying that it really helps round out the BA system. The problem you could have going to the aftermarket world is getting too much bass and ending up with your car rattling like crazy. I've read that the mtx subs are not head pounding but add the bass that the other speakers are missing. It will allow you to turn the bass down on the smaller speakers and that will improve the quality of the whole system. My Lexus has a aftermarket system and it's really badass. The quality puts the camaro to shame. It's also a 65k dollar car and with that you get a ton of sound dampening that makes any system sound better. Our camaros do not enjoy such extensive sound dampeneing and so a loud set of subs in the trunk will cause rattles all over the place. I personally don't want to risk having my beautiful exhaust tone ruined by a rattling trunk.

sorry for the double post, audio is one area I know a thing or two about and that sub option is a HUGE rippoff, if you want to upgrade, dont go this route imo, you can find much better for much much less.

Sure can, but it's time, money and some extra weight to do all that. I agree that a cheaper system will do the trick.
