Anyone concerned about longevity of the Scosch or Alpine dash unit?

I've read about several failures of the Scosche touch screen dash kit. The last think I want to do is to install it and have to pull it back out again in a month or ever.

I have the Scosche unit on order but I'm not sure if I am going to install it right away. I want to see how many more failures there are the latest release.

Thanks guys for the answer to my question. That's kinda what I was thinking is the OEM radio is part of an assembly.

The Metra kits has been for awhile so it has a track record. It been reported here that the lcd backlight has stopped working. The Scosche kit is not even a month old so it can not have a track record. I know one one so far had it exchanged. You have to wait about 6 months to more accurate results. Mine should be here tomorrow and be installed in the next couple of weeks.

I have read about 8 failures on start up with the Scosche touch screen. I think that says it doesn't have a good track record. I can't imagine getting it installed only to have to pull out again a month. I am having mine installed by a local car audio company. I would have to pay to have it removed, and pay again to have it re-installed.

Where have you read this? I might have to rethink about installing the kit. Even if i am going to install it my self.

That's highly debatable! Your talking to someone who's on his 4th metra kit in six months, I've made thread after thread of each failure

That's what I thought with my metra kits too! You need to atleast give it six months then get back with us. Maybe we can bump this thread back up then and see what everyone has to say......
