How Many BMW M to 1LE Converts?
Long time reader, finally got a reason to sign up (incoming 1LE)..
Just wanted to see how many others have "switched" their loyalty from BMW M cars to the 1LE. I am one! After many years of owning the gambit of BMWs, I casually checked out the 1LE and after driving it, it was game over. Owned two 3rd gen IROCs many years ago, not the best experience but still love them. The 1LE by far impressed me with its handling, grip, and flat torque curve. Streering feedback is definitely better than all 2013 and up M cars, but not to the level of the e36/46. I am excited to get this beast! Other German performance brands welcome to chime in as well. Cheers! |

This SS 1LE is the first American car I've ever owned. My previous cars were all BMW's, the last 2 being the E90 and F80 M3's. This SS 1LE is a better fit for me because dynamically it's better for the turn, stop, and go linearity, feedback, and capability.

I wouldn't say I've switched my loyalty, as I still love M cars, but I have certainly added a new loyalty to the 1LE.

Came from an Audi S4. It's a great all-around car, especially with AWD, but wanted something that generated more emotion/excitement. The 1LE is definitely that.

Yes, I should mention that as well. I still have two BMWs in my stable, likely will always have atleast one. But for the money, heck, hard to beat the 1LE's value and performance. I just hope it drives the same way 3 years down in my ownership.

I'm a fan of the older BMW models and currently looking for a local E36 M3. Out of the new range I only like the M2.

I had a 2011 E92 M3 coupe. I switched to a 14 1LE and missed the creature comforts of the BMW. Now I've got a 17 1LE and almost all those issues have been solved with the exception of the stereo.

I'll always have a soft spot for the e46 M3. However, this camaro is super capable and fun to drive.

I had an E36 //M3 back in the day, and then a long run of MINI's, so I guess I count. I'm still a big fan of the older Bimmers, from the 2002 up until about the E46. The E90 335d is probably the last fun one in my book. The insulation between the chassis and driver on all the current ones makes them a non-starter. If they can get back to the fun stuff without faking it with derivative crap like the //M2, I'll pay attention again.

I've been obsessed with the 1LE ever since test driving a 2SS some months ago. I took a second test drive in a 2SS at a different dealership a few weeks ago. No doubt I need a V8 again.
I am so close to selling my M235i, but have delayed for a few reasons. One is that I only want a white 1LE, and so far, I haven't seen one near me. Another is that I'm hesitant to order a 2018 without knowing the price. Another is that so far I haven't been able to get a good deal. I got better than a 6% discount off MSRP on my BMW, but after talking to about 6 dealerships in CT and NY, the best I'm hearing is 3% - $1500 discount. But I'm pretty sure that I won't be happy until I get a 1LE so it's just a matter of time.

There have been several of us. I came from a loaded '08 e92m3 to a '16 ss. No regrets, except maybe the seat is not as good, or the stereo. pretty much everything else is better (for me).
