Sounds like you have the choice made already. I can't imagine the A8 wouldn't handle a few sessions per year. I'm no expert on the A8 in the camaro. But in the CTS-V world from which I come those guys race their autos all the time and they do just fine. They are more worried about adding rear end diff coolers as that is the place that heat soaks first on the road race track on the V.

I would say if you don't absolutely need manual, get the '16. $8000 is a rediculous amount of money to save and you can have it now, vs waiting several months to get it lol.

That's a great price - plus lots left over for mods!! I'd go for the 2016

The question is, "is it really a good deal if it's not what I really want?"

Get the 1LE. You wouldn't be asking if you didn't really want it, you would have just got the regular SS already...

It could be the other way around too. I never considered a 1SS. I knew before the 1LE even existed that I was waiting for the "track package SS 6th gen". So if I had been in his shoes the fact that I was even asking would have meant the 1LE wasn't worth the extra money to me.

OP keep in mind the logic that many people apply is
(1LE) $42k - (1SS) $32K = $10k (extra for mods)

That logic doesn't work unless you were buying the car in cash. Obviously when you finance the car you will only finance the cost of the vehicle and you will be left to your own devices to save up the extra money. Unless you already have $10k that can be lying around that can be dumped into your car. In that case I would say use that $10k as a down payment and finance the 1LE for $32k and enjoy keeping your warranty.

With $10k You may well be able to build an SS that performs with the 1LE but by then your warranty will be long gone and you still won't have the E-LSD, Performance traction management, or the Performance Data Recorder.

To me both the 5th and 6th gen require the 1LE package at minimum to purchase. The rims/tire package, spoilers and added handling performance are worth it to me. However that discount would be tempting, but I would still need new rims, tires, front and rear spoilers added which would cut into the savings compared to a 1LE purchase. Cloth seats is a no go as well, recaros for sure in my next Camaro.

Could wait a year from now and get a similar deal on a leftover 1LE?

Glad to see someone else going through a similar decision. I am going with the 1SS nightfall grey. My reason is that was the depreciation factor and my budget dictated the choice. I can mod the car to my choice.

The 1LE unit numbers will be nowhere near the same volume as a regular SS.

Dealers won't be carrying many 1LEs in general inventory.

I suspect most will be ordered, with a couple sprinkled around to highlight and promote the Camaro brand.

It will be supply vs. demand that will keep them from deep discounting.

That's too good a deal to pass up, unless it's yellow.

Have you taken the 1SS for a test drive yet? That could help your decision. And yes, you can track a regular 1SS, you will just be a bit slower (but still pretty darned fast).
