VS SHELBY GT350
I finally got up and close to a shelby * still couldn't test drive it but heard its engine its definitely menacing….. its possible to get them near msrp if you are willing to ship and pounce. So what exactly are the speed numbers for the shelby vs camaro? does anyone else love the resale? value of a shelby if you were to change your mind you practically lose nothing. When one gets a fully loaded 2SS you get in the 53K range if you do your homework you can get a shelby for 58K
why would you choose the camaro over the shelby? I do think the camaro is easier to drive and I do like the leather better but there are things about the shelby I like better |

Both great cars. The powertrains are quite different. The Camaro LT1 has more torque down low; which most feel is more usable for typical street driving. Some reviews I have read say it feels like no one is home in the Shelby until you get to about 4000 rpm. Plus that motor revs to 8250 rpm. So, that flat plane crank may be awesome but you can need some space to wring it out.
As for pricing, I think the spread will be much greater once you factor in discounts and incentives. I just bought a loaded 2016 2SS with A8, MRC, NPP and NAV for 41k. Msrp was $47k. Last edited by raptor5244; 05-28-2016 at 08:01 PM. |

Like raptor said, both awesome cars, but it really depends on what you want. Bang for the buck? Camaro wins (partly due to dealer markup on the Shelby). Drag racing? Looks like a wash, but again, see bang for the buck (and I suspect the LT1 has more power to gain from mods than the Voodoo). Race tracks? GT350. A pure street car/daily driver? Well, that's entirely up to whatever floats your boat.
I really respect the Camaro, but I think I would eat the money and snag a GT350. If I could have both, I would (but then again, I also want a Grand Sport, so....) |

Only people I have seen continuously comparing a 50k+ Camaro to a GT350 are blue oval boys.
The 2SS starts at under 43k..come on, man. Load up every imaginable option on a Camaro to get a ridiculous price and them compare it to a no option Shelby. Shelby will no doubt hold value better and uniqueness and resale may be a reason someone may buy it instead. |

I would not pay 3k for a 6 piston brake upgrade unless I was serious about tracking the car. The 4 piston Brembos already stop the car on a dime. I am sure you could add them later but they probably cost more with labor. |

Let's be real, the GT350 at $58k (guessing that's with GG Tax) is equipped like a 1SS is at $37k. I've yet to see a 2SS MSRP at $53k. Maybe a vert with an options.
MSRP on my '17 2SS with A8, NAV, MRC, NPP, and Hyper Blue is $48075. Short of adding LPO wheels (which would be a 2nd set for the car), sunroof, and all the "cosmetic dress up" items in addition to the options I have...is the only time it will be above $50k.

The GT350's are having so much overheating problems is what I'm seeing a lot lately.
One member at mustang 6g mentioned that only the track package 350 will have the right coolers.. Limp mode, overheating are the problems members are facing. So extensive research is key |

If u add dual exhaust 6 piston brembo, mrc, it goes over fifty but yeah the resale value is a big reason on the Shelby for me

Yes only get the track package I knew that overheating issue I think the biggest draw back is what was said above the power band to high you can get over 2 gear |

Resale on the '16 GT350s (without TP) is going to drop now the '17s will have it standard. So keep that in mind if you are looking at a '16.

Sure, you used to be able to option up an SS to almost a base GT350 but, ironically enough, the SS would be the much better track car. It has all the coolers the GT350 should have come with. Now that all the GT350s come standard with the track pack, it's no longer a $50k car. It's mid $50s at least.
