I live in CA for reference

Got pulled over last night for my tail light covers - they are the GTS ones that are pretty dark. He told me he could see when I braked but he couldn't see any red on the lenses when the brakes weren't applied. He said technically no modifications to the tail lights are allowed if they aren't DOT approved but if I had a lighter tint that allowed red to be seen I could probably get away with it.

My car also has long tubes running with no NPP fuse. He told me my exhaust was pretty loud and that he didn't care if I had stuff that wasn't CARB legal but that the CHP might if they ever pulled me over.

He was a nice guy and I was able to chat with him for a bit. He said he liked the car and the tail light covers looked nice but that they were just too dark.
He ended up not even giving me a fix it ticket because I popped off the covers in front of him.

Anyway, I thought some of you CA guys might want to hear some of the things he said.

Pretty lucky. Did you offer to remove the covers yourself or did he ask you to do it?

He told me to take them off when I got home, I volunteered to take them off there because i wanted to show him the tail lights and ask him some questions.

They go on fine, the fitment at the very edge on the side of the car is a little off - could be fixed with some thin two sided tape.

I happen to have the best price on them lol - want to buy them?
