ZL1 autocross tires
I am running continental Dws on the rear and I was running stock Good year on the front they are now wore out. What tire should I get for the front that will be good at autocross? These tires need to have good balance with the continental. Any recommendations.

You can best guess, but until you run them you won't know. Mixing tread compounds for ac is going to require testing. Far easy and cheaper to run the same tire brand and model front and rear.

I would get the DWS for the front to maintain balance. Once the DWS's wear out I'd look into the Hankook RS3 or the Michelin PSS.

Thanks sounds like a plan. What size would you run. 275/40/20 or 295/35/20?

For your car I would put the 295 in front. That rear tire is on the softer side. I honestly think the MPSS would be a good match for autox. Continentals DWS grip really well in wet as well. You could get the MPSS 295 35 20 front and then when the Conti wears out get the same size MPSS rear and have a square setup.

Why do you want a square set up for autocross??

Square setups handle better and give the car a better balance traction wise between front and rear.
The problem is i'm not sure how a square setup would work on a ZL1 with the stock sways. I have to assume it has some understeer though so the square setup would help eliminate that.

I was trying to get MPSS for my ZL for this year to AutoX but had zero lick locating a set. I went with 315/35/20 & 285/35/20 Rivals from Tirerack and I'm very happy with them so far. I'm attending the SCCA Nationals in Oackwood Washington this weekend and will get a chance to see a bunch of different drivers, cars and tires performance but I'm very pleased with the Rivals.
