I guess a lot of you think it will be the same speed as the 5th gen?
Yes I'm sure the mag times will be in the neighborhood of the fastest private owner times of the 5th gen. All in all it should be at least a half second quicker. Not sure how an 8 speed, 30 hp and 200lbs less weight won't get you a half second minimum. And compared to the l99 your looking at a 55hp gain. Auto for auto the 16 is going to strait up RAPE the 2015 l99. Don't forget torque is up like ~30 ft lbs as well with a better curve. Mid 12s mag reviews and as fast as 11.8-9 private owner hero times for the a8 ss. M6 times will be all over the place. But plenty of them got 12.8 to 13.1 with the ls3 m6. I would expect mag times in the 12.5-7 range for the m6 ss. And as mike said... They have stated model for model, at least... You name it. The only thing left to wonder is if they lied or not. 6 and 4 models have been stated to lose near 300lbs. If they hit the projected weights the times I mentioned should be very possible. |

Here is just one bit of proof: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=412261 @6:25 - Al O in this interview states that the weight of the t4 and v6 will be close to identical and that they are almost 300lbs lighter than the gen5 V6 which will put the weight close to 3400lbs. @25:00 - He states that Chevrolet is already over 200lbs lighter on the V8 and states again that they have shed almost 300lbs on the V6. 12.7 113 with average driver for the manual on the factory rubber and heavy 20's. 12.5 with good driver on manual. I think with nothing but drag radials it will break 12's. The LT1 is supposed to be a torquey motor at low rpm more so than the LS so sticky tires will work wonders.

Am I missing something?
Is there a reason why everyone is ignoring the improved aerodynamics of the 6th gen? Even if we assume the same weight, HP, and torque curve (all of which we know has improved) the aero alone should absolutely cream the 2015! Combine that with the other advantages we know of and this should prove to be a significantly faster car! Not to mention that Chevy has supposedly gotten more clever with weight distribution which should also have an effect...

Lol at some of the people here who think it will not be faster than a 5th gen or just ever so slightly faster than a 5th gen. I think you guys are going to be pleasantly surprised or super mad and disappointed depending on if your a fan or a hater.

Who cares if the car is .5 faster I for one don't run around racing every car I see. Faster is better but not a deal breaker my 5 th gen will be just as fast or faster with the couple mods I have done. So what I want is a better looking better made car the guy with the most money wins I don't care what you drive.

6thGen lighter, more hp, better aero....How could it not be faster and quicker?... (FWIW only bone stock is relevant IMO for comparison....bringing in mods of any kind is always a game changer...) |

My guess is 12.5 and lower for the Auto. The L99 dipped into the high 12s, and this car will have 55 more hp, an 8 speed automatic, and much better aerodynamics.

Bolt ons might make a l99 Camaro almost as fast as a gen6 but bolt ons will make a gen6 as fast as a Stingray. |

In my full bolt on 2010, my grand daughter was able to run consistent .10 second faster 1/4 mile times than me or right at 12.44. The reason.....she was almost exactly 100 lbs lighter than I was. That car weighed 3800 lbs and it dynoed at 352 HP (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166856) of course at the wheels. It had a Vararam that doesn't add much if anything on the dyno but does at speed. Multiply that by the 20% parasitic loss and it should have been making at least what the 6th gen is making at the crank. If it's 200 lbs lighter deduct 2/10s second from my bolt on times and I'm guessing right at 12.244 @ around 115-118 mph. That's my guess and my rationale and I'm stickin' to it.

It just goes to show you as much as the back and fourth between the track guys and straight line burners happen here on what matters most, the 1/4 mile is the gold standard when it comes to measuring a cars performance.
