LED or HID for my 14-15 RS fog light?
Hi guys, like title, what is better for my fog lights? Want to replace them with a white color as similar as possible to my halos. So what are your recommendation? My purpose is for show, not for driving or illumination though. Which one is more stable and last longer??
Thank you!! |

I have a 2010 ss, rs, I know it's not a 14+, but I bought some 6000k bot link replacement bulbs for the lower lights on my zl1 conversion and color matches perfect to to the factory hid headlights, the led bot link bulbs look kind of like a steel funnel with a projector on front, and best part, 11 watts and light output is as good as the 55 watt oem lights. With the drl on the zl1, I went with a Oracle halo kit, ready to install this weekend and I added a led, but thinking now, I may go with a lower watt bulb so the halo doesn't get lost in the high output leds. But you should look for a 11 watt area led bulb, anything lower will probably be less light, not sure if 6000k is what looks right on a 14+ but I've already had compliments on how it looks the same as my hids from people who are not at all car people. One guy said, I thought you had brown fog lights before. The leds(botlink)only cost around 25.00 a pair and Amazon. I don't really know much about hid in the fogs or if the housing can hold up to heat.

I've had these HID bulbs in for about 4.5 months now with not a single problem. I got them in 5000k and they match the halos perfectly.

You are going to get a lot that have LED and a lot that have HID. I did this same poll months ago. I personally went with LED high powered from Diode Dynamics as I did not want the fogs real bright. I was concerned the HID would drown out the Halos. Are your Halos GM factory or after market?

mount the ballast higher up in the engine bay, gets some hid extend cables, every hid kit on my past vehicles suffered from bad ballest location, that moment cold water or the elements touched the ballast, started to flicker and burn out, have had these extensions to move the ballast in a safer area away from the weather elements, just a peace of mind
