New Year, New Daily

Picked up a new 2014 Sonic LT Turbo to use as my daily for a while. Eventually, it will be my daughter's first car, so it's an automatic (she'll be getting her license in about a year or so, then I'll teach her to drive a manual). So far, it's a great little car and I'm looking forward to doing some mods...

My SS will now be my fun-time car

When I went into the dealership, they actually thought I was trading my Camaro in... Definitely NOT going to happen... lol

New Sonic:

What's the first mod going to be? Muffler delete or CAI?

Snarkiness aside, there are CAI available... no muffler delete... not looking to make this an over-the-top ricer wannabe... but there are performance upgrades I have in mind... better, lower suspension, CAI, blowoff valve, larger intercooler, better exhaust (no coffee can poppers)... granted, it won't ever hit the same HP/TQ as my SS, but it'll definitely do well enough for when my daughter 'inherits' it...

It also means less wear on my SS and save some on gas... I average 17mpg in my SS, and, with the sonic is 30mpg...

Sounds like a good plan and I was just kidding with you before. No offense intended. Having a daily driver is smart.

my wife has a little Sonic LTZ hatchback, she loves it! It does handle pretty good and gets good gas mileage.

No offense taken at all... my daughter is cool with it as is, but she is looking forward to helping me out and learning about taking care of it and making it 'hers' with mods in the long run... I giver her a hard time with the whole 'turbo' thing... I kid with her asking if someone bubble-gummed a police whistle into the exhaust... that thing is tiny... :big grin:

My daughter is always helping me with something

I'd make my kid learn to drive on a manual.

Kids will learn on whatever car s available. My daughter is learning to drive now....she has her hands full just learning to control the car ..and rules of the road...I'll teach her on a manual when she feels comfortable just driving.

Nice! I've been thinking of one of those as a new daily driver.

Same here... I want her to focus more on the outside than the inside...

Besides, if I teach her to drive a manual first, she'll constantly ask to drive my SS...

So far, I can't complain... Especially with the 'year end' sales going on. New car with warranty and service contract for less than $20K (some around 14K). My only suggestions would be to at least get the LT trim... the LS is really bare-bone, and the 1.4L Turbo. My mother bought the LS with the 1.8L a little over a year ago... good car, but I definitely like the LT and turbo better.

Tune? These little turbo engines respond really well to them

Congrats on a nice little car. I sure hope your daughter appreciates your Camaro. My daughter didn't even want to learn how to drive, nor did she want my Corvette. A lot of kids nowadays aren't even interested in cars.

Thought about a tune as well.

My daughter is currently into cars. Her dream car is a 77 Trans Am. Followed closely by a 64 Impala.

mom was a little disappointed when she went from her 'tea sets and tiaras' phase to 'workboots and welding gloves'....
