Overheating
Well, less than 48 hours, and 800 miles all of which were at are under the speed limit I watch as my brand new C7 Z51 is towed to a nearby dealership. Not the weekend I envisioned! Five hours from home and steam existing the engine compartment, water flowing to the ground, and temperature gauge pegged! Enterprise rental home.

That sucks. Hopefully its something simple like a bad thermostat but it's not the way to start your C7 relationship

Bummer
That's funny. Sounds like something my wife would say followed by, "we spent 85K on this, WTH?"
Sorry to see that. I had to have my old C5 flat bedded twice for the steering wheel lock. NOT FUN. I hope it was something simple like clamp that was not completely tightened down and worked itself loose. Keep us posted! |

Sorry for your trouble. Hopefully it will be a simple repair and you'll be back on the road to enjoy all the car can provide.
My 2014 with 4,000 miles has been to my dealer twice, once to replace a dead battery and again to re-program the body control module. Both visits went smoothly and the service department was professional easy to do with. Good luck with your repair. |

in 1980 I bought a new Camaro about half way home from the dealer day 1 it conked out and had to be towed back. The spark plug wires were not put on all the way.

Check this out. You had better keep a serious eye out for your head gaskets developing a leak. If you pegged the temperature gauge then there's a REAL GOOD CHANCE that you have warped the heads. The leak WILL NOT develop very fast depending on how bad the heads are warped and it may take over a year before this rears it ugly head but if I were you, I would keep a serious eye out for this.
The best way to realize that something is wrong is if your coolant starts to mysteriously drop below the full/cold line. Coolant DOESN'T disappear or evaporate, it is leaking if it ever drops below FULL. You can pull some of your spark plugs and smell them for Dex-Cool too. That's a dead giveaway. Since your engine was venting steam, you have seriously overheated your car. I have a TON of experience with this issue so I speak first hand. The bad thing about it is the damage that can happen to your motor if you don't catch the issue (common with LS engines). Wanna read about my issue? get some popcorn, this thread is over a year long. Start with post #78. It's epic.
