Dealership wanting to buy my car??
Hey guys! Long time no see . Well I am moving to San Diego soon and decided to take my camaro to the dealership to get some work done. Anyways, the day after I went to the dealership I received a phone call. They stated they have a buyer interested in a 2010 camaro with less than 30,000 miles and stated that they can give me a new model camaro for around the same monthly payments I am paying now. I have a 2010 LT w/cc package with around 23,200 miles. I told them I was not interested. I am curious if anyone here have came across the same type of offer from their dealerships?

dealers make a killing on used cars. If it was for the same price why would you not upgrade and regain your bumper to bumper warranty, and the upgrades like radio and other things they have thrown at your model since then?
but then again some do this in hopes of upselling you once you are there |

I was also called and its not about that someone wants your car they want your money, they do this as a sales ploy." Hmm " 3 more years of payments and there doing you a favor, I don't think so ??

They want my six month old 2LS at the place I bought it towards a new one too.
Bottom line- Yeah, I could have the same payment on a '14. And I'd dig myself a longer ditch. |

They do this when they think your car is a good product for the used lot. Generally, they catch people off-guard and it causes people to lose a lot of value. Since you haven't evaluated what your car is worth, they'll tell you whatever will bring them the most profit. I'd recommend holding onto your Camaro until you're certain that you want to get a newer vehicle.

Well if you were at City Chevrolet then I can guarantee you that they didn't have a buyer for it since well, I work there and it is just a campaign the sales dept is running to sell more cars. If you sell yours to them they can assume you will be replacing it and then will show you a new car. But if there is something you were looking at buying then the offers they give out for service campaigns like that are generally better than normal.

Thanks guys for your imput. I only have less than 12,000 left to pay off my car and its mine. Unless they can give me an upgraded model with still only 12,000 left for payment I dont think I am going to give up "Elvira" just yet

I did this. Went from a 2012 to a 2014. They gave me 22k on my old 1lt, blue book on trade in for my 1lt was 20k. I upgraded to the 2lt rs, so had to put some money down, but am at the same payment. Couldn't be happier. The 2014 has a great warrenty, all the new stuff, and nobody jerked me around.

Yup! I still get 'em for my '07 Civic I sold in May 2012 (traded on first Camaro). Read the fine print - it's just a sales ploy and you could sell it for more on your own.

Haha... sales ploy... I just stated my example that the dealer gave me 22k for my 1lt, which I s 2k OVER the blue book value. It all depends on what your car is worth and what you still owe. It is a great deal for some, not so great for others, so it is a disservice to blindly give bad advice to someone and call it is 'sales ploy' unless you know what is involved in a particular situation. Of course sales is involved! The DO have to make a living. You just find out if it is good for you or not.
