2014 Stingray in the $50K Area?
I'm currently a young Camaro owner and lately I've been planning my next big vehicle purchase. I've been working hard and saving every penny but I'm not anywhere close to being made of money. I've fell in love with the 2014 Vette and would like to make it my next car but wasn't sure what to expect for a price range.
I know that there hasn't been much info yet but what are you guys expecting for some ball-park figures? I heard some people saying that there may be a base model around the low $50k area? I've also heard rumors of a $40k range smaller V8 model in the future but I'm really looking for the lowest 2014 prices. Will all the models be stingrays with 6.2 V8's or will there be others this year? I'm really hoping that $71k rumor isn't the cheapest.... |

Harlan Charles announced at Sebring that pricing will be set late April. Until then rumors you heard are the rumors everyone else has heard as well. If I were a Camaro fan and saving for the next big vehicle it would be the Z28.

No one outside of GM knows for sure yet. 2013 1LT C6 goes for $49,900 MSRP right now. They could bump the price up 5% or 10%. Many are guessing the latter (me included) and think a 1LT with no options at all hits around $54,000. If it's less then I'll be very happy. It'll give me more money for tires and driver improvement at Spring Mountain

I heard (rumors) that the new Corvette would be priced similarly to the current C6. Not sure how, but that is what I heard. Like was said above, pricing comes out in April/May. My dealer that I am putting a deposit down with said the same thing about pricing...no one knows until April/May time frame. I hope it is, but I am not holding my breath.
The new Z/28 ....love the wheels and seats, hate the rear like everyone else....I don't want a car with only 1 speaker and no A/C... or A/C as an option. If that is the only way you could reduce weight....not very imaginative, especially with lighter weight materials like carbon fiber.

I would think the Z/28 will be quicker but not cheaper than the Stingray. Reuss had said at the presentation it is not meant to be fast only in a straight line. With all the performance goodies and the lack of creature comforts, this car (Z/28) may be one of those cars you wish you bought instead of.

apples to oranges. A z/28 may be faster on a track and if that's your only criteria then stick with the camaro. I'll say again that you're talking about a ponycar with a back seat and specifically setup for the track (3700 lbs) versus a luxury 2 seater that weighs 300-400 lbs less. Will there be a FI C7? Yep, we've already seen all the signs for the LT4 to make an appearance soon. Can you expect a Z06 version of the C7? Certainly seems logical given Chevy's history. But they're two totally different vehicles with two totally different missions IMHO. Although I'm sure someone will line up a Z/28 against a Z51 optioned C7 just to see what happens as soon as both are available.
