Again, based on my single Camaro data point, which isn't statistically representative but obviously very relevant to me , this is spot on. I did a proper break-in and while I do have a catch can, it collects very little oil, not because the can is crap but because the engine doesn't want to consume oil in the first place. While it's true that my bottom end has been upgraded over the years, the engine has continually been good and strong since day 1.

Well, they need reliability for reputation, and if they’re building race engines then those are thrashed much harder than any long term Buick or Kia. That said, I didn’t take mine WOT to redline from day 1. Early on it was 1/2-3/4 throttle to 4K rpm, soon after followed by 3/4-WOT runs to 4000-4300 rpm, followed by staying in gear and engine braking. Additionally, I sped up the 1500 mile break in by driving in one gear lower than the auto would want to be in (eg driving in 7th instead of 8th). No harm done, just a few more revs in a shorter time period, speeding up the break in timeframe. So, after my 1000 mile oil change I was WOT to redline without worry.

MM? It could be your can, too - you may have seen the back to back Elite vs MM comparisons but the Elite catches more blowby every time

Most LT4s have some blowby, more than something like an Audi 5 cyl

Anyway, I'm in the aggressive break in camp, there are countless dyno reviews to prove it works and most break in happens within about 10 heat cycles. Some tuners also stress the importance of completely letting off the throttle after bursts of throttle to create a vacuum on the motor
