Just tried getting quotes from Geico and Farmers and both were higher than my State Farm? What the hell?

62 years old no accidents or tickets and they still want well over 1000 a year for 2k deductibles.

The motorcycle quote double? State Farm 882 a year Geico wants 1800?

Have you called Liberty Mutual? I have my houses and vehicles insured with them. The multi discount is decent. I have my bikes insured with Allstate, as I have one insured as 'replacement value' as it is a custom. Allstate was the only insurer that would do that for me.
Funny thing is that every year, I call them up and haggle the rate with them and they always lower it! Why can't insurance companies just give you their best rate in the beginning. It is ridiculous.

About double the premium of everyday insurance companies , the big thing is Agreed Value. You paid 50k or 80 k for the Car that's your Agreed Value , if the car is not fixable that's what you receive . For me it doubles the premium and we loose the multi car discount, because the Camaro would not qualify as a DD . It's not driven daily, Yearly Mileage also plays a part in the equation as well.
I haven't pulled the trigger yet, going from 794 a year to 1600 a year and paid in full ,no monthly or semi annual payments.
Thank you for this post. I didn't know this realm of insurance. I did the math and its 400 a year cheaper going through Hagerty for my usage on the SS. This is after accounting for my rates going up on my daily driver. I think I will switch to them if the underwriters accept the policy. Progressive still the cheapest for my daily.

It was mentioned in a previous post , umbrella supplement policy , that covers your Cars and Home owners over and above your 250/500 comp/uninsured(you half to have the maximum offered coverage to have a Umbrella. People these days being sue happy, your auto or HO coverage would get used up very fast and without an Umbrella they or there lawyer can go after your assets, House , bank account, 401k, ECT. I have had an Umbrella for years , just for that reason.

I switched to Hagerty. 100/300k liability and 500 deductible for comp/collision. But like others have said I now have 50k in agreed value, so I see that as better coverage. There is also "earthquake" coverage mandatory but isn't a substantial amount. I was paying 1720 a year with progressive for similar coverage with all discounts. Now im paying 1100 year for the camaro but coverage on my kia went up almost 200 a year. Net $420 savings with better coverage.
The interesting thing is in CA they require the vehicle to be parked in a private garage, it can't even be a shared underground garage in a apartment building.

If you saved that much, I’m going to look into Hagerty, I’ve heard good things in the past but always thought it was probably going to be pricey

If you only drive 3-5k a year or seasonal it's worth it. I drive all year so it's definitely worth it. I also specifically asked them about mileage and use, and they said they don't have hard limits on mileage. I told them 3k a year, up from 1800 what I put on the original quote and it didn't change the price at all. They don't care that much about mileage it seems rather use case and storage. Also they want to know what your daily driver is, in my case it's a 2018 kia. They are very explicit in their FAQ about private garage storage in certain states, CA being one of them. I'd check that out. They also asked who else is in the household and are they going to drive it.

I've had Allstate, Geico, and Progressive (current) and Allstate was garbage. They would never help me on a claim. For instance, I was sitting in my car in a parking lot with the car off and got hit by a drunk driver. They wouldn't pay to fix my car because the driver of the other car was on Allstate, even with the police report. I got tired of fighting them over the dent and dropped them for Geico.
I was on Geico and was getting quotes for a motorcycle when I tried Progressive. They gave me the best quote around $70, so I immediately switched my Camry to them and now they have my Camaro because they gave the best rate for that also.

My State Farm agent takes pretty good care of me. $1812 per year for my Camaro (full coverage), Harley and Renters insurance. Made a claim a five years ago because of a lightening strike. No questions asked, the covered everything. All high end equipment: 60" plasma tv, marantz pre-amp, sony amp, samsung blu-ray. Replacement costs were close to $7500.

I'm at $250/month for 2 cars including mine with full coverage. My payment is about $120ish / month and that includes mod insurance of about $4000.

AAA Insurance
