Paint condition

Hey all, I drive a 2013 Camaro 1SS with 63k miles. I purchased it a year ago with 54k on it, and it’s now my daily driver. I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with rock chips in weird places, as well as random white spots showing up on the roof and the hood. This has all started recently, which is strange to me because the car is regularly waxed and taken care of. I do not tailgate anyone, and my friends tell me I drive like a grandma. Has anyone else had any weird paint issues with their 5th gen?

Thanks

The clear coat on these are pretty soft and on my black car shows as white spots when that happens.

The faster you drive ....the more spots. Those are little rocks kicking up from other cars and chipping your paint. I drive extremely fast and I'm loaded with them. Enjoy your ride !!Life's too short.

When I got my SS in Sept. of 2009, I had a clear bra put on the whole front end right away. Including the lights and mirrors. I had a problem with with my new C6 Corvette front end showing little nicks and I didn't want it to happen to my Camaro.

Oh! That explains why White is a popular color. LOL

Yep, I think we all have those dreaded little white spots in our clear coat. No matter if you tailgate or not, cars and mostly passing trucks kick up all kinds of small pebbles and rocks and they bounce of the car and you won't know it until you wash it and see them. When you wax the car, they will show up as it is hard to get the dry wax out of most of the tiny dings. Drive it and enjoy it and just keep it waxed with a quality wax, or ceramic.

Have you ever been able to find a solution?

Touch up the spots, sand them down and buff the car. There are some spots that I can't do it to much more before I cut through the clear coat.

My paint is in excellent shape. You have to get into the habbit of detailing your paint yearly (meaning polish/paint correction, clean-seal, LSP-wax or sealant).

The clear coat turns white when it's been damaged. Some of the white spots can be buffed out it theyre not to deep.

^^^ this for sure.. You could probably have a good paint correction process done, and a good quality polish and wax and be all good again.
