5mm wheel spacer, where to buy?
Just as the title says, looking for a 5mm wheel spacer for my Z to accommodate 325/30-19 Trofoes and can't seem to find what I need. I'd rather stay away from the eBay specials and look for a higher quality piece. ZL1addons has a 5mm on their site but don't seem to have them in stock. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance

eBay may be your only option for a 5x120 66.9 5mm spacer.
H&R makes some but they are a 70mm hub. You probably won't find any with a hubcentric ring into your wheel being that thin.

The raised collar on the hub is 66.9 mm and designed to engage directly in to the wheel center bore. The studs do not carry the full vertical vehicle load. I do have a spacer/adapter for my spare that also has a raised collar and retains Hub-Centric interface with the wheel, is that what OP ordered? If that interface is missing it loses some of the strength and also can cause vibration. Thinking this applies to both Z28 and SS.

At 5mm spacer you will most likely not engage the center hub as it only sticks out about 9/10mm if I remember correctly. You may get e shimmy / vibration. You can get away with a 3mm spacer for sure however.

If you went any thicker you would need a hub-centric spacer with a collar though. Also for accuracy the hub centres the wheel preventing out of balance and vibration. The vertical load is actually mostly carried by the clamping force between the wheel face and the hub face though, created by correctly torqueing the wheel nuts. Edit to say - I'm running 5mm spacers all around, and don't have any vibration at upto 130mph... |

5th Gen factory stud length is 28mm. Lug size is 14mm diameter x 1.50 pitch. The calculation for required lug length torque is (Diameter x Pitch) so on 5th gen cars it’s (14mm x1.5) = 21mm I have 3mm spacers so 28mm-3mm= 25mm of stud length. I was able to get around 9 turns of the lug. 100% of the torque is achieved at the 6 turn, the extra turns don't add anymore tighting/torquing. With 5mm spacers you have 23mm stud length which is 2mm more than what’s required for max torque clamping. |

I run the ZL1 add-ons 5mm spacer up front with a set of Detroit Speed Engineering open ended lug nuts. I get 8 full turns on the nuts, no issues with vibration or handling, running a 305 30R19 street tire (Trofeo or Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R) or a Hankook F200 Ventus 300/680R19 slick with -3.1 camber, zero toe. |
