Nope. I have a '19 SS and it's hella fast for the street. I upgraded the non NPP to Borlas and now I'm done. I could do "upgrades" but in reality, they'd serve no purpose on the streets and the biggest effect would be draining my wallet.
I buy fast cars b/c they're already fast enough for me. |

ya - I'm with you on that one. But more from the perspective unless you SC it - you won't get that much of an impact out of bolt ons as far as power goes. Sure you could do headers and a tune and pick up what - 30hp? Maybe? But then you void the warranty and you now have a 12.1 sec car instead of a 12.4 sec car. Big deal. If you wanted a mid 11 sec car - should have just popped for the ZL1 in the first place - it's available.
And not sure what other mods you do to this car to make it any better than it comes. It used to be different - in the 4th gen for example, the motor made only 320hp but you could easily pick up 100hp with exhaust, tune and a cam swap. And the suspension was decent - but really needed better springs, shocks, sway bars, control arms, etc - so you could do all that stuff. Plus the stock wheels only put 245 tires down, so you wanted to change those as well and run 275's all around on 17x9's for example. But now - the current SS is a much more well put together car - what do you really do with it that will make it better? I don't see there is much of a gain there and you are as likely to make it worse than improve it. What am I missing? |

Blackgloves! ...i hear ya man! i was thinking the same way as you, except for the modifying part. I also thought about waiting for a 2022 or 2023 model... but what Fred 6528 mentioned about health or it could be any other unforeseen event, could screw up your plans. Artryan also made a good point stating that there might not be big changes in the future models..., by experience...i've seen Chevrolet just add a set of descreet stripes for their special models, which is nice, but not what everyone expects for special model.
Count yourself lucky to be able to enjoy your current car now..., some of us (that includes myself) are still waiting for our current orders to go through. Savor the moment. |

I've contemplated supercharging my 19SS but if that were to happen it will be down the road. It's like being a kid in a candy store, I want that, I wanna keep it stock, I want a 23' SS2, I want a 23' ZL1 **head spinning**

Start saving some money now for that 2023 ZL1 blackgloves! I don’t think you will have any regrets!

Your 2002 isn't worth much more than the $9k. Don't hold your breath on future value.
A 1996 Z28 in perfect shape just sold at auction for $10k. A Gen 6 SS really doesn't need many mods but do want you wanna wanna do. |

Maybe 20 years from now depending what happens.
Amazingly low mile 3rd gens are now going for $15K+ I mean seriously I bought one brand new in 89 for $20K or so. Seems crazy when you can get a decent 5th for $15K with double the power of the 3rd gens. But what happens is nostalgia. Guys like me that had one back in the day want to relive their youth or something. Go figure. So it might happen 6th gens catch a rise in values in 20 or more years from now. Or maybe not. Nothing to worry about now !! |

How much different is the 2023 going to be from the 2019? I'd say your power train options likely remain the same, with a minor power boost. The rest of the car is the same. What would give you the idea that last year models hold higher values?

I plan on keeping a 6th gen forever, whether it's my 19 or a 23. A 96 Z/28 will go for a lot more than than in 15 years from now. Imagine what happens if and when electric powered cars completely take over. These cars will spike in value

I should have said this in my initial post, but my car was purchased with 20k miles. Yes, a 2019 with 20,000 miles. I love the car, but it would be nice to enter a Camaro-less world with a zero mile 6th Gen. Color options may play a role in this. I really like my crush orange and doubt it will be available. A wild or interesting color would be a substitute for crush though.

When you start looking around the country for 3rds and 4ths. Its shocking how many of these cars have been sitting in garages or storage with essentially no miles on them. Some with all paper work, build sheet, windows sticker etc. I saw a 4th gen that had 66 miles on it. That's just one example. Many had less than 10k miles

I often wonder what is going to happen when all the guys who bought the late 60s Camaro Z28s and SS 396s with no power steering or radio for 6 figures when they pass away. They bought them at high dollars for the nostalgia. But people my age and younger don't remember a time when cars didn't even have power steering, and you can pick up a used Camaro SS for $15k that will blow the doors off of that 1969 SS 396 while keeping you cool and comfortable. Maybe kids who've read up about them or just like the way they look, but people who grew up with cruise control and an 8 speaker stereo wouldn't even have an idea on how to start a carbureted car cold!
Maybe that's great for people like me, who do appreciate the old school muscle...... by the time I'm 60 maybe their prices will come back down to earth and I can buy a couple! |

Anything that I've ever come across that's really old, rare, or I feel it may have some nostalgia infused, I immediately wonder the value.
