My girl friend want to be a female car mechanic
Hi everybody,
I am very confused. My girlfriend wants to be a woman car repair . But I think that job will make her look not very clean. I have said my opinion to her, she likes cars, I bought car for her. But I am not much money to buy her some cars. What should I do now? Thanks so much! |

Pics would be helpful just as Clark said. The more revealing the better, as far as determining whether or not she should be a auto repair person that is.

as much of a 'gender-role'-ist as i am, i still don't see nothing wrong with a gal turning wrenches so long as she knows what she's doing (or at least learns how). shoot... just look at youtube: there's a number of good-looking lady mechanics that somehow manage to maintain their appearances throughout the video (granted, it probable includes showers between takes, but who really cares?) it actually intrigued me that my wife likes to get her hands dirty.
if a clean appearance honestly matters to you that much, and she actually cares about that, she'll still doll up when she's done.

What is wrong with that? I have a good female friend who is a certified GM mechanic. I work on my car when I can. Let her do what she loves. Is she tying to tell you what to do with your life?

Interesting first post. Since OP won't post a pic allow me. This was the super hot 17 year old part time receptionist at the place I get my hair cut, from 5 years ago sitting in my ZL1 vert. She is now a certified auto tech. I have to believe that grease under her nails would just make her that much hotter.

Why are you referring to her as a "female" mechanic? She wants to be a mechanic, nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't talk her out of it because she is a girl, I would talk her out of it because it is a thankless job most of the time. Your average person has no idea how a car works, they just know that you took too long to fix their car and it cost too much money. Being a fleet mechanic is similarly unrewarding. Drivers thrash the vehicle, and then complain because it took you 2 days to get it running again.
No thanks. I did it for 10 years and that was enough. I like to work on my own stuff, but I'll never wrench for a living again.

You speak the truth, but this site is slow AF and there aren't many new posts to look at on the daily.
