They don't care, car bought for appearance only.

That's why I brought up air bags, but it was met with crickets.

This is not topic specific, germane to, the Germans got nothing to do with it! "Jackie Gleason in: Smokey & the Bandit
I just lowered my GT base, because it wasn't up to my capabilities and floated at high speeds. Look's better as well.

I know....I couldn't resists being a bit of a jerk back.....sorry about that man. Can't fault us for assuming handling is the #1 concern for a 1LE buyer though. It is a pretty pricey handling package after all.

Anyway. Yes sir, I lowered mine on BMR progressive springs, which were good enough for street use only(IMO) and the best option at the time as far as best match for 1LE shocks/struts. For that reason, BMR would be the direction I would look if I ever chose to lower on just springs again.

I could tell the dynamic wasn't the same after swapping the springs out, but it still handled great....obviously with the stiffer suspension and huge sticky tires. The progressive springs helped keep the car civil, but it did bounce a little as is probably unavoidable when going this route. I didn't like that part, but it wasn't awful.

If I had to do it all over again though, I would have saved money and gotten coilovers. That is my plan now as well, but I am fortunate enough to have some after market coilover systems that use my cars version of 'magride'.

It is REAL hard to resist such an amazing visual improvement that can be had for SO cheap, I know. But experience has shown me, that lowering a car with springs alone and messing with the relationship between spring rates/length and damper tuning and travel is not a good idea.

If your 1LE is street driven, and/or you just want to lower with some springs then contact our forum BMR rep. Great company, great service, great products!

Again, sorry for being a jerk. Good luck in your decision man!

Red Dragon, my intent was not to start an argument , different strokes for different folks, Dont want to see someone experience what I did and end up with a smashed up car. Believe me it can happen. As I had mentioned I have another car with coilovers that is lowered. Just be careful and do your due dilligence and DO NOT take for granted these parts have been tested by the manufacturer like a Gm part would have to be.

I have not lowered mine and I don't intend to. This is because, like others have said, I am satisfied and appreciate all of the time, money, engineering, and extensive testing Al and his team have put into the SS 1LE package, and as the consumer, I am paying already for this upgrade. I have lowered 2 of my cars in the past (2002 Camaro SS SLP and 1996 Impala SS). On these prior cars, the lowering improved the look since both had larger wheel to gender gaps and improved handling. Of course, there was some sacrifice in ride quality. And on the '02 SS (Eibach) too much so in the rear that I had the performance shop I went to that did the install put 1/2" spacers in the rear only to keep from hitting the bump stops. The spacers also gave the car the best look with subtle front to rear rake. But again, I have no intention of modifying the suspension on this awesome car.

Side note: Only bought a 2nd set of wheels and tires (MRR M716 19" on Michelin all-seasons) to get me through the sub-40 degree months.

While I would never lower the car as the engineers did a lot of work tuning the handling, I sure as heck would swap out to long tube headers.

Lowered my 97 with Elbach. Did not lower 02 Firehawk (#0140). Would not lower this. Have maybe an inch clearance to get in driveway. Neighbor built ramps for his ZL1 1LE. Not worth it to me. Personal choice, you own it.
