oil pump fail... new engine in

No oil pressure with 31k..I was so pissed off. Dropped 525 ls3 crate engine in. Heard a lot of people talking about problems with the asa cam 226/236 110 lsa while tuning. Made 420 1st pull no tune. Made 455 pull but backed her off a little. final tune 443@6000 420trq@4900 Nice trq curve from 3000 to 6000. No surging or bucking. Not bad for 525 lift cam..

1.85 rockers and pac or psi beehive springs would be nice addition to that asa GM crate motor

the poor oil pumps. was that a specific problem just for the early production Gen 5's?

Afraid so. I was upset for months. Still a little mad. Little check valve that was stuck. Stock engine still good. Its apart in garage. Looks brand new inside with 31k

If it's been a problem for Genes 5's production, where is the problem?
Does that prevent?

GM didn’t clean out the blocks well enough. Metal shavings build up in the pump over time

So to be clear, I realize from all the stories I've read, that the issue was real with early Gen 5's. 2010-11/12

Did GM take care of it on the later production Gen 5's? I don't recall reading the problem persisted. I'm interested obviously as mine is a 2014

It's also much more prevalent on the LS3 version of the pump, from what I have read here at least. The L99 uses a high volume version and seems to have better reliability.

I changed the oil (yesterday) and open the filter. After 17000 miles all clear.
Not a trace of metal.

When I read how the new and new faults (for me new) are still there.
I try to give my car the maximum care to avoid disturbances and I'm trying to figure out what happened.
Mainly oil pump. The heart of the engine.
