A8 gear lights

On the A8, whatever a gear is selected it is lite in red, and the others are in white. Today, only the gear that is selected is lite in red, and the others are dark. There was a similar thread about this awhile back, but I'm unable to find it.

Anyone remember the cause or solution?

Mine did the same thing a while back. The lights came back on after the car sat for awhile and hasn't done it since. Figured it was a glitch. You can try disconnecting the battery for several minutes and see if that fixes it.

Might be a glitch from programming from the manual transmission, because the only times i've seen the color change was on a manual with rev match enabled.

Wow this is wild I had this exact thing happen to me last weekend! I thought i was going nuts I pulled over shut it off restarted it and it was fine. Of course this happens to me immediatletly after reflashing the Fuel pump/ BCM module so I thought I effed something up. I just chock it up to another of the electrical gremlins that show up once and dissappear.

No. It’s the letters by the shift knob. Whatever gear is selected that letter is red and the rest are white. For example if you were in drive the letter D will be lit in Red and the letters R (reverse), N (neutral), and P (park) are lit in white. But there is a random glitch that only has the selected gear lit in red while the others are not lit when they are supposed to be lit up in white.

Happens to me every now and then. Sometimes when I'm in P all four lights are white when the P should be illuminated red. Just a weird glitch.
