I think if they had the same start it would have been closer. Looked like they were only a car length apart by the end.

Looked like a pretty bad launch from the Charger. But to me it looked like well more than a car length. Trap speeds were 11 mph different.

Judging from the way the Charger staged, it didn't look like he was familiar with drag racing. He had to be waved up to stage, and then was asleep at the tree. Still the BMW ran a great time that the Charger would be hard pressed to match with a good driver.
