I grew up during the 1st muscle car era from the late 60s to the 70s. I had a couple fast cars back then. Just looking to re-live my youth I suppose.

My father worked for GM building Camaro's. I got the bug early.
My mom had a nice 74 firebird, my dumb butt totaled it on the first weekend of my senior year of HS. Then mom bought a 77 Firebird "Sky bird". The baby blue ones. It is still in the garage at home. Looks almost new after 40 years. I hardly ever drove that one... Wonder why! Never really had a muscle car, along comes marriage, kids, mini vans, SUV's, pickups... Life goes by, the kids are gone, I was tired of driving all of the above. Went to a Chevy dealer to look at a used Mustang of all things. Numbers are not working out, the GM tosses me some keys, "here go drive this NEW Camaro.". A 2013 2LS.. 1 test ride later. It was mine. Kept it 2 1/2 yrs. A few minor mods, Then the SS bug caught me. I got my present 2015 2SS /RS. Many mods and a trip to camarofest 8 later, this 1 will stay with me a while.

I've always rather liked the Camaro. Had a 4th gen, and when I saw the concept for the 5th gen, I was sold and it became a goal to own one.

I was looking for a car in 2014 with the Camaro on my list. I shopped the interweb and found an SS with 20% off near me.

Because I couldn't afford an L78 396/375HP 1967 SS/RS Camaro. So I got a first yr (5th gen) cause thats the only color I wanted once they came out.

I had a 2000 firebird vert that was going to expensive in 2012. Read more parts needed than the value. So I traded it in for new 2012 1LS. It was murdered on the highway. I then found a 2014 SS 1LE and love it. IT made a huge splash at the office. One friend said " what a wicked car"

the old fart response
When I was a mid twenty something my Father helped me rebuild a 68 SS. Two years later I traded it for some cash and a jet drive boat.... was big with women at that point (put in at this point my Father and all of you just now calling me a dumba**) I am in my second marriage an my lovely wife heard the story so many times she bought me my 2015 about 1 1/2 years ago for my birthday. It is not an SS but I am still a very proud owner and they will claw this steering wheel out of my cold dead hands
by the way I am 58 now "yikes" Last edited by Spocktwin; 09-04-2018 at 05:48 PM. Reason: addition |

I have been working at new car dealerships for 37 years now. Few vehicles excite me anymore. But the first Gen 5 Camaro I saw actually blew me away. Everything about the cars called out to me. If I were speaking to someone and saw a Gen 5 go by, I would lose my train of thought while it drove out of sight. From that point on, I knew that I would have to have one. I have had mine a little over 3 years now, and I still peer out of the window to look at it in my driveway and admire it.
