All LT engines other than the L8T and LT5 have some form of DOD...AFM/DFM. Some LT1's and LT4's have the DOD engine internals but the feature is disabled in the ECU tune.

I use a truck.....like a truck. Plus, I live in a rural environment where the truck gets dirty and stays dirty in the winter months. Instead of buying a new truck for 45-60k, I bought an auction truck, went through it, tuned it and saved a shit ton of money. I am in to this all in for 17k, drive it anywhere, pull 6000+ lbs with zero issue and generally don't worry about it or the cost. Just a thought....

So I'll add another thing especially when towing, the 3.0 has a huge advantage when towing on roads with a lot of hills. The 6.2 can't catch up fast enough when you start up a hill and starts down shifting to find the right gear, where as the 3.0 will start to add boost and will usually stay in the same gear unless its a severe incline. You need to drive one and not just rely on this poll. Those who haven't driven a 3.0 just don't know the benefits of the turbo over the gas NA motor. I've had a least a dozen of the new Lt motors and they just don't compare in either daily driving or towing. Go drive both back to back and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm the one who said a few years back I'd never own a diesel, well that shit has passed after owning this one for almost a year.

Just curious, have you driven a truck with a 6.6 L8T ?

I haven't driven it and it's not available in the 1/2 ton so wouldn't have any reason to drive one. I think they have good reviews but the biggest complaint I have heard thru my dealership is that they only have the 6 speed trans and mileage is not good at all and the 6 speed is continually searching for the right gear just like all the older Lt motors I've had in the trucks. I did see where the 2024 will get the 10 speed that's in the duramax 3/4 and 1 tons.

My 2022 HD 6.6L has the 6 speed, but the 2024 I just ordered has the 10 speed.

I had just edited my post as I read a review on the 2023 and he noted the 2024 was getting the Allison 10 speed. You'll really like that over the 6 speed. Congrats. Man I didn't know you could already order the 24's, shit mine will be 2 model years old before its a year old. Haha, go figure and I have the refreshed with the new dash.

I ordered back in January. About the 20th I believe. My dealer called as soon as they could order. I haven’t had any issues with the 6 speed, but I agree that the 10 speed should be great!

100% agree. I know half tons can be rated to tow over 13k pounds but I wouldn't do it. Just get a gas 2500 for about the same price and much more capability.

2500HD pricing is pretty close to 1500 right now. That said, since you're only towing once a month, a 2500 is way overkill for your needs.

A 1500 with the LZ0 diesel will be a great truck for you. I got 30mpg out of the one I drove for a couple days before I got my ZR2. Fuel economy is amazing with the LZ0.

Nope, should be well below that. It will tow your car and trailer with no issues.
