While the “transition” (for lack of a better word/phrase) from ICE to ev’s does it’s thing, maybe we could think about giving names to these cars that doesn’t use the heritage of vehicles they have nothing in common with. Try not to find all the similarities to make a case for it, won’t sell me.
I don’t care how fast it goes with its electric motor. It’s not my Corvette/Camaro.

The only consolation will be hopefully many years before an EV Camaro comes out. With it ending at the top of it's game as an ICE Camaro, at least there won't be a simultaneously produced EV abomination.

EVs are an entirely different vehicle. The more time between ICE and EV will ease the unease having to explain an EV Camaro compared to an ICE Camaro.

Expecting gm to not bastardize the Camaro name at some point, I think is too much wishful thinking....lol

I mean seriously, watch how distracted they are with the controls, the mileage, the just general uneasiness.

I am sure it is the same as horse to ICE -- but a shitton more people on the road now.

No doubt it comes back as something you don't recognize. The best possible outcome given GM's current strategy is a low roof EV coupe. Sporty coupes just aren't selling though right now so we'll see if they elect to create a MachE competitor. I think though the Blazer EV SS is that so that give me hope a CUV won't get the Camaro nameplate.

My three youngest are pretty young, but I can assure you that all five of mine do care and will likely never buy anything from GM.

The article says that the plant is for cylindrical cells that better package in lower profile configurations and will be produced with a chemistry that produces higher performing energy dispersion. Low profile + high performance…I can think of two cars that fit that description. Corvette and Camaro.

For sports fans in the room, my understanding is the location will be the space where the Palace of Auburn Hills once stood. Home of the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons.

Maybe this is what GM is banking on; That the younger generation may not care so much. Fine, but what we (I) mean by compromise is that the future Camaro generation will not mean or perform or sound the same way as its forebearer. You can make a car handle and even accelerate, but can you do this in the style and passion as the originals? It would be a farce and a sad state of affairs to even try to mimic the sound and feel of an original Camaro.

Okay. Whether or not this reincarnation comes in a few years could be anyone's guess. My advice is that if the car will be different in its powertrain, then it should not try to copy or imitate the past Camaros. It should be different and new in its personality.

EV ranges average 12.5% less than advertised. Why am I not surprised? So the Mach E, advertised at 305 I believe will likely only go 267 miles. Then if you avoid charging past 80% its range drops to 214 miles. Throw in cold weather and you have a $50,000 vehicle with a range less than 200 miles a charge. P.T. Barnum was onto something.

Didn't a bunch of MFGs get in big trouble about range in ICE and have to pay out? Hyudai comes to mind.
