Roof Constraints
Does anyone know what roof is on constraint? Is it the standard roof or the exposed carbon fiber roof? Or both?
Thanks |

The carbon fiber roofs (both for visible and body-color painted roofs) are on constriant as I understand it. But I have a general queston about the roofs and constraints. If one wants a dual roof package is it possible to order and pay for the dual roof package, receive the car with only the transparent roof and have GM ship a carbon fiber roof to dealer when they become available? Anyone ever hear of that? Curious--that's what I would do if I could when ordering. --Bob

Second question: Not possible.
Both painted and exposed CF roofs were o9n constraint. Apparently a fix was found and the painted CF roof is not on constraint, per my memory. Although Chevy had plenty of experience using a CF roof in the C6 ZR!, it did not have experience in a removable CF roof. For reasons I do not know, it appears the act of taking the roof off and putting it back on numerous times has an adverse effect on the integrity of the roof. Laborsmith |

Are any Exposed c-f roof c-7s being produced at this time? My order is at 3300 , and includes the exposed cf roof-so can I expect to be produced?

Yes some are. At 3300 you can expect it will be produced and in a fairly timely manner. The biggest hold up is getting to 3000 but once at 3300 the process becomes much more stable and predictable.

Thanks for the reply. That's how I understand it, also. But it's tough being patient.

As both BeckyD and KellyJ can testify, I have vowed to never do a retail order again. And that is exactly why.
I have only broken that vow less than a dozen times but this time I will stick to it. Unless I decide to do a retail order again. Laborsmith |
