what's your oil pressure

Hello Guys,
as the tittle says, did anyone notice a similar behaviour of the oil gauge? I know it's just a representation but I assume it's based on the oil pressure sensor readings.

At cruise the oil pressure is around the 40 psi (depending on oil temp etc)

what worries me a bit is that during acceleration from 0 or from cruising the gauge pegs out at 80psi even with minor throttle input.
I just noticed this recently as I went from technology to the standard layout.

Someone asked a similar question before but got no answer, so I'm curious what you are all reading.

Thanks,
Nick

I don't believe I've ever seen mine go to 80. Maybe much less over 50 and that seems to happen when I'm braking

mine pegs out at 80 too in WOT in my 3.6L... I was hoping you'd gotten some response on this so it could ease my worries a bit as well...

My v8 hardly gets over 50 but I could imagine a smaller displacement engine having a higher pressure. When I had my Focus ST I would get over 70psi if I went WOT before the oil came 100% to temp. High oil pressure isn't the worst thing in the world. It's low pressure you need to worry about.

If I remember correctly mine does the same. I'll check after awhile and let ya know.

Ok, fully warmed up the oil pressure varies between 34 at idle to 75 depending on rpms. Before fully warmed up i saw some pressures in the 80's at higher rpms. I'm not sure about full throttle I didn't do that testing.

Yes, apparently it's normal. I have the V6 and when I plugged my scanner in to see what the actual oil pressure was if I remember correctly, it was at 110
