Experiences with Carvana and/or we buy any car

Curious if you engaged in a negotiation with them in selling a car to them and how they're online valuation compared to what you actually got when the transaction occurred, the level of "inspection" that they did on the car and did they then try to low ball, etc etc

I did we buy any cars. Went smooth as could be an left with a check. No haggling on their part. Actually my appointment was a week after I got the on-line value from them and it increased.

Inspection was a walk around and then dude went inside and did some things on his computer. Took 1 1/2 hours total.

They gave me a generous offer of $12K for my 2013 2LT with over 100k miles last year when I traded it in for my SS. Used car values are still high right now. I also bought a Jeep from them 2 years ago and had 0 issues with either car. Excellent experience.

I have an appointment on Saturday with a rather high valuation even with some minor bumper damage, I don't really know what to expect from the valuation and what's real life, how they handle their business that way. Its about $3K over Carvana which is kinda driving the question

FWIW, Vroom gave me the highest price when I was comparing last year during the height of used car values. I had no intention of selling -- rather, was just seeing what offers came in from these services.

A couple of friends did sell their cars to Vroom, Carvana, etc. Their experience was that the online quote held up -- flatbeds came, picked up their vehicles and left a check. No post quote negotiations and it sounded like they didn't even verify condition was as described by owner.

Have done a couple of deals. Vroom was easier to work with, but Carvana gave me better offer on my Suburban.

Recently sold a vehicle. I tried several online places and found Caravana had the lowest bid by about $5k. KBB had best online quote but it sent me to a local dealer. The local dealer did try low balling me but pretty quickly gave me the full amount once it appeared as if I was going to walk.

I sold a terrain to carvana 7/21 and at the time they paid more than anyone else. the transaction was smooth, the price was as quoted and a check was given to me on the spot. I would deal with them again.

Carvana will be gone in a year. In the seven years they have been in biz they have yet to do anything but lose money every quarter. Big issues with titles and they have been banned in Illinois for selling vehicles. They do however seem to pay the most ( i sold a car to them right before the pandemic for about what i paid for it three years prior) which is all that matters on the sell side( and why they bleed cash) If you think those cute car dispensers are for selling their cars, it's actually for selling their stock( which was $ 350.00 a share last year, and is currentley trading at $31.00). Carvana wholesales a lot more of their inventory than you would think. Vroom will be the big player in this sector within a year. Full disclosure, i own a bunch of their stock and really believe in their new CEO and action plan going fwd.

My experience with Carvana and the like wasn't as great as others. I had a 2016 SLT Sierra I bought for $32K and drove 2 months, local dealership had a 2017 Denali ultimate with a Borla exhaust I wanted, thought I'd try the online buy sites, highest offer I got was $27K, local dealership gave me $34K in trade on it, this was when the used car market was around its peak.

My brother-in-law got an offer of like $34K from Carvana for his 2017 RAM with 16K miles, a local dealership paid him $43K in cash for it.

Nowadays I figure Carvana is pretty competitive to local dealers as the market has calmed down slightly (but still way more ridiculous than it should be). In fact the only reason I traded my AT4 for a second gen Raptor is the GM dealership had 2 on the lot and nobody there knew how to answer simple questions about them so they wanted them gone. Probably got the cheapest Raptor in the country at that time.

Tried to sell my 2022 ZL1 with 89 miles on it to KBB Instant Offer, could not give me a price because it found nothing to compare it to. Carmax couldn't give me a quote on line and wanted me to bring it in. Carvana just said "You Stumped our Algorithm." And Vroom gave me an offer of $56,600. Driveway gave me no quote and said. "Our team will call you shortly with your offer"

I sold my 2021 Tahoe RST in February to Driveway for about $12k more than I paid, Easy transaction. They pay off any loan/note on it. Then deposit the rest into your account provided. Then they schedule pick up. The only thing is once you have signed the paperwork they Fed Ex overnight and you return overnight (they pay for it), you can not drive it again at all. And the pick up was real slow, a little over 2 weeks, but they come to your home and pick it up.

A year ago, CarMax gave me the highest offer for my 1LE. The other ones (Carvana, Vroom, etc) were thousands lower and not even worth considering. CarMax was the best deal for me in my area at that time. Got a check on the spot for the difference between their offer and my payoff and had the payoff $$ to my bank in 5 days. Hope it goes well for you, Good luck.

Give me the vin is a good option … gave me the best offer and transaction went smoothly. Their Saturday radio show is great as well.
